We should be having more sex.... or something

Time, it's about time.
As we draw closer to yet another year's end. I'm compelled to reflect on what this year has been for me. I hear myself saying almost daily, "I can't believe it's almost November!", "where did the year go?", "Time is flying by so fast!" and many other clichés that I say every year around this time.
It freaks me out how quickly time goes and how much faster it goes the older I get. (something I swore to never say!!) What gets to me more than that is wondering to myself... What the Hell did I do with my time???
Time, our most valued commodity. It's irreplaceable, we will never be able to replenish it, never get a moment back. We can't fast-forward or attempt to control it in any manner. So when the moment passes, it's gone forever.
And yet, it's probably our most squandered resource.
If we are unconsciously going through life, we are missing a huge opportunity .
Our lives are made up of three components.
1. The day we were born
2. The day we die
3. The dash in between
The dash is what is so valuable. It's almost insulting that we don't give it a better symbol. A dash. Like, that's it. That's what my life is summed up as? A single hash mark between my birth-date and death-date? Do you have any idea what I've been through, what I've done, where I'm going? And all I get is a simple dash mark to represent me?! F- That, there should be sparkles on that B!$#* at the very least. I mean, come on! (rant over, Heh-em)
In my exploration of, 'what the hell I've done all year?'... I did some research on what the average person does.
Here's the what I found, Reebox and Censuswide conducted a study in 9 countries with over 9,000 participants in 2015. Their findings blew me away!
29,915 days, about 69 years, is the average global lifespan. So I've basically lived half my life already and I feel like I'm just getting started!!
Let's break it down...
41% 10,625 days (29 years) engaging with technology
29.7% or 7,709 days (21 years) sitting down either at work or home
6.8% or 1,765 days socializing with family and friends
.45% or 117 days having sex
.69% or 180 days exercising
Other studies have concluded we spend an average of...
26 years sleeping and an additional 11 years trying to fall asleep
13 years at work
235 days in lines waiting
115 days laughing
136 days (women) and 46 days (men) getting ready
4 1/2 years eating
So what you're saying is, we spend more time in lines then we do having sex?! … or laughing?!
I think we can do better.
Are we living life intentionally or as a wondering generality? I know that I have wasted numerous hours, probably months if not years of my life already. I, for one, also know that I don't want my next 5 years to look like my last 5 years.
I know I am in complete control over my life. It's my responsibility and capability to utilize my time wisely. I can decide what those next 5 years look like. I don't know about you, but I sometimes struggle with longer term goals and really being able to 'see' what that will look like so I just took the next 24 hours.
Morning Practice: 1 hour (gratitude, meditation, visualization, exercise, breakfast)
Businesses: 8 hours (helping families, leadership development, expansion, inspiring, building people)
Driving: 1 hour (less is better, can't wait to have a personal driver)
Eating: 2 hours (I love food, cooking and sharing meals with friends and family)
Sleep: 7 hours (I need about 7 to operate optimally)
Family/Friends: 3 hours
Misc: 2 hours
Of course not every day looks the same. I like to have variety in my life and be spontaneous.
I'm blessed that I am in position where most of the things that are important to me overlap. To quote Steve Jobs, "if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life". I am fortunate that I get to be in business with family and friends, that we get to travel the world together, and that we get to make a positive impact on the world simultaneously. That the more people I help; the more time-money freedom I have.
The point is, I GET to make my time work for me. I GET to do anything I want in this life. And so do you!
The question becomes; are we spending our days how we want to? Are we being all that we are capable of? Are we taking full advantage of the limited time we have in this lifetime? Are we running our life or letting life run us?
Or
Are we spending 2 hours a day watching TV shows that have nothing to do with us, to "check out" from our life because we settled for less than we know we are capable of.
We don't know what the future holds. We definitely don't know when we will have our last day. When the dash will end.
My wish for you is that you live each day fully, that you get to experience as much as possible, that you cherish the bad days just as much as the good days. That you live with a grateful heart. That you continue to push your limits and live your full potential. That you live a long and health life.
That you make each day count and live each day like it will be the day you are remembered for.
That you spend more time awake and living, really living, then you do sleeping and at the very least... have a little more sex; it's good for you.
